Vintage Ercol Small Windsor Model 429 Rocking Chair

This charming, ‘Windsor’ solid beech and elm rocking chair, designed by Lucian Ercolani and made in the Ercol factory during the 1960s is as practical as it is pretty. Although its proportions are compact and it’s dainty to look at, its design is such that it’s a sturdy comfortable chair that looks just perfect sitting next to the fireplace or for when you can grab a moment it relax with a good book.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, restored condition. The chair has had the original finish carefully removed. It’s then been lightly hand-sanded before layers of hard-wearing matt oil have been applied, followed by a wax polish and buff. The end result is a low-shine, durable finish that has brought the golden grain back to life. There are some minor signs of wear that you might expect from a piece of furniture produced in the 1960s, but nothing that would detract from the beauty of this charming rocking chair. Sadly the original blue Ercol sticker is no longer affixed to the rear of the chair but this is an easily attributed piece that we have restored many times before.
