Set of Six 1960s Vintage G Plan Teak Dining Chairs by Leslie Dandy

A set of six G Plan dining chairs, designed by Leslie Dandy and dating from the 1960s. They’re solid teak, superbly constructed and we particularly love the colour and grain of the teak on these chairs. It’s less orange and more ‘honey’ toned than usual. The seat pads have been professionally recovered in recent years in a blousy floral fabric which we rather like but it might not be to everyone’s taste. See beyond this though – if the colour and fabric choice don’t suit, recovering them would be an easy, inexpensive job for an upholsterer. The overall chair design is tall and elegant, perfect for leisurely dinner parties with friends and family. With high, supportive backs and wide comfortable seats, these dining chairs will partner effortlessly with any dining table, G Plan, midcentury, modern or otherwise, such is their universal appeal and design.

Description

This original, vintage set of six dining chairs is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, the chairs are in very good – excellent, used condition. The solid teak chairs frames have been thoroughly cleaned, checked and polished with a 100% natural beeswax product. They are in excellent order overall, with only very minor, superficial scuffs here and there on the frames, as you might expect with furniture of this age. The floral upholstery is in very good order too. Again, there is the odd slight mark on the seat pads from light use but nothing to flag. The chairs have been professionally recovered in recent years. They have plenty of life left in them as they are, but should you wish to recover them, it’s an easy job for the professional upholsterer or the hobbyist as they are wraparound seats. All six chairs are solid and stable with no areas of concern.  As you can appreciate from our photos, these chairs are superbly crafted. The G Plan label is affixed to the underside of most of the seats.
