Set of Four Midcentury 1960s Swedish Pinnstol Beech Dining Chairs

You’d be forgiven for thinking at a glance these are Ercol chairs but their design and origins are very different. They’re Pinnstol beech ply chairs, hailing from Sweden and they date from the 1960s. They come with a few knocks and scars from their former lives around the kitchen table but we can forgive this for their fantastic design. We love the thoughtful placement of the multiple back spindles, the contoured seat for comfort and the way the ply pours off the front of the chairs creating an overhang in profile. Solidly made and chairs that you wouldn’t need to be too precious about. Fine examples of Scandinavian midcentury design and the ‘form and function’ aesthetic.

Description

This original, vintage set of four chairs is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, the chairs are in good, used condition. We have given the chairs a thorough clean and polish with a natural beeswax but otherwise we have left their original finish alone. As you can see through our photos there are minor chips, scuffs and marks across all four chairs. We have repaired a small crack on one of the back spindles and we have stabilised a chip to the ply on the corner of one of the chairs to prevent it from deteriorating further – these are both shown in photos. Despite this wear and tear which we feel is in line with their considerable age, they are nicely crafted, stable and sturdy. They are each stamped underneath. Do browse our photos for a good sense of the chairs but please don’t hesitate to ask any questions. You’d be very welcome to view the chairs too.

Alternatively, we can arrange fast, UK mainland delivery with specialist drivers who cover most of the country (please enquire for Scotland or remote addresses). Our delivery partners are reliable and insured, and we have worked with them for a number of years. We have a weekly collection and onward delivery usually follows 1-3 days later. Please be aware the delivery service we can offer does require some flexibility as the drivers work to predetermined routes with other delivery obligations, but they will keep you updated directly regarding their anticipated timings.
