Original Westnofa Folding ‘Flex’ Brown Leather Armchair by Ingmar Relling
Designed by Norwegian, Ingmar Relling for Westnofa, a collaboration that lasted many years and created many iconic pieces, this ‘Flex’ folding armchair is a rare find that we’ve rather fallen in love with. It’s beautifully engineered and is in exceptional order. An unusual design with all the key elements from the simple, flowing bentwood frame to the soft arms to the strapping and the seat canvas working in harmony and balance to create a solid, stable and extraordinarily comfortable seat. At a first glance you would never know it could be folded. A classic design in hardwearing grey brown leather, this handsome chair will slot effortlessly into any room in the house and is destined to be adored.

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall excellent, used condition. The leather has been thoroughly cleaned and a nourishing leather balm applied. The leather upholstery on the two cushions is in excellent order, soft and supple with plump inners. There is some wrinkling, surface marks and colour fading but this is in line with its age and what you would expect with vintage leather – indeed, it’s part of its appeal. Likewise, the upholstery on the main frame is in excellent order too including the leather arms, the seat canvas and all the strapping that moors it into position. The wooden bentwood frame is similarly in excellent order with only very minor scuffs, but again, this is barely noticeable. The folding mechanism moves with ease. Sadly the original Westnofa sticker, usually found on the chair base, is no longer affixed, but this is a very well-documented, attributed design. It dates from the 1970s. P
