Antique Globe Wernicke Mahogony Three Section Glass Front Bookcase

Now a much sought-after, antique collectable, coveted by booklovers around the world, Globe Wernicke Company Ltd of London made beautiful, robust stacking bookcases, designed for libraries and offices. This is a fine example, dating from the 1930’s, that has been carefully restored and is in excellent order. It comes in five separate sections – the top, three glass-fronted book shelves and the base. The three glazed doors lift up and slide back to access books and treasures inside. Each book shelf section is metal banded for added strength and stability. A very handsome, stately item of furniture that would be as useful in today’s modern home as it was, perhaps in barristers’ offices or a university library, back in the day.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good condition. We have given the piece a careful clean and polish. The glass doors lift up and slide back with ease as they should (although we would advise this is done with care and a gentle touch).  The internal woodwork is clean and in good order as is the external wood. As you would expected with an antique item such as this there are signs of wear and some scratches and knocks. Please refer to our photos for an accurate sense of condition. The original maker’s plate can be found at the back of each bookcase section.
