Original British 1950’s WH Russell Curved Walnut Sideboard

Designed by WH Russell for Gordon Russell in the mid 1950’s, this is a beautifully crafted piece of British midcentury furniture in solid hard wood. With a gently curved front, not noticeable at a first glance, it’s an elegant design feature that makes this sideboard standout. It offers much practical storage for the modern home too with four drawers and two cupboards. It’s also a piece that would mix well with furniture from other periods.

Description

Featuring two cupboards, the one on the left has a height-adjustable shelf and the one of the right features a contoured shelf to accommodate bottles. This cupboard also has a lock and key. The four central drawers are the same size and the top drawer is baize-lined and sectioned. A couple of the drawers are a little marked inside from use but they are superficial and hidden. The drawers are beautifully made with dovetail joints. All the doors and drawers work well with no signs or repair or damage.

This item is in excellent vintage condition with very few signs of wear. Its surfaces have been lightly cleaned and polished. There are some light scuffs here and there to the finish but nothing if any significance – please see our photos for an accurate sense of the  condition of this sideboard Sadly the original maker’s sticker is no longer attached but this is a well-documented design. This is a solid, heavy piece of furniture with no wobbles.
