Original 1970s Danish Nielaus & Jeki Mobler Black Leather Bentwood Sofa

A statement sofa without a shadow of doubt, this has such a striking, rather masculine profile from all angles. From Danish furniture maker, Nielaus & Jeki Møbler, it dates from the later 1970s and you can see that in its design. There are classic Scandi midcentury elements but its features are chunkier, more rounded and exaggerated. The leather upholstery is in fantastic condition and curved bentwood frame flows and curls. As is the case with bentwood / cantilever seats, it’s a very comfortable sit and this, with its wide, padded arms and soft, generous leather cushions, create the perfect lounging habitat.

Description

This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, used condition. We have cleaned the leather and applied a leather balm. We have applied a natural beeswax polish to the wooden frame. The three sectioned cushions are in fantastic order with plump inners, soft supple leather upholstery and working zips. The canvas underneath the cushions is in excellent order with no areas of concern. The bentwood frame carries some minor knocks and marks here and there, in line with its age, but overall is in very good order. It’s well made, stable and solidly constructed. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but we are confident this can be attributed to Nielaus & Jeki Møbler and dates from the late 1970s.
