Midcentury Teak Lounge Table with Drinks Cabinet & Magazine Rack by McIntosh

Here’s something special and something different. Intended as a lounge centrepiece, it’s a table, magazine rack, bottle storage and drinks cabinet all integrated into one piece. To call this a coffee table would be doing it a great disservice because it’s so much more than that. Although no maker’s mark and a rarely seen model, we strongly believe this is a short-run piece by AH McIntosh, mostly likely from its 1970’s Tristor range. It produced a number of design twists on the standard coffee table including a model with a fall door bar the same as this, another with an integrated magazine rack and smoked glass topped tables too. The superior built and wood quality are key clues as well – McIntosh made premium quality furniture. This piece comes with a thick smoked glass table top and comes on castors so can be readily moved around. The deep central storage space, tall enough for bottles, could be used for storing blankets, books or displaying treasures. It’s also worth noting that the width and low height of this piece would lend itself to being a TV unit.

Full Condition Report
This vintage unit / table is ‘sold as seen’. It has been thoroughly cleaned and serviced, and the wooden surfaces have been buffed with a natural beeswax polish to revive shine but otherwise the finish is original. There are just minor blemishes and knocks here and there, including a small chip on the bottom corner by the fall door – please refer to your photo. The smoked glass table top is original and there are very light surface scratches here and there, only visible in certain light. The drinks cabinet at one end features a fall door. All hinges and closures are in very good order. The cabinet interior is clean and tidy and there is a recessed removeable shelf inside. The table sits on castors which move freely. There are no repairs or areas of concern. It’s a quality piece that’s really well-made and we strongly believe it was a short-run piece by AH McIntosh as part of their Tristor range, although there is no maker’s mark.
