Mid-century Danish Double Gold Spotlight Floor Lamp by Hans Schmidt – Fully Restored

A rather glamorous floor lamp with brushed gold, double spotlights, each with independent integral switches, and a tall gold stem, base and arms. Hans Schmidt primarily designed ceiling shades back in the 1970s so we’re delighted with this particular find. Those elongated, narrow-bodied spotlights can be height-adjusted, rotated and angled to get the glow just right in two directions. Set behind a chair for reading, by the bedside, over a desk, next to your sideboard, to illuminate wall art, it will work anywhere where a burst of soft light is needed.

Description

This original, vintage floor lamp is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition and has been fully restored with care and expertise. The lamps have been rewired with new black, fabric-braided flex, energy efficient bulbs, along with a new plug, and it has PAT tested to meet modern regulations. The spotlights can be angled with the screw arm joints, and they can be height-adjusted on the main stem by unscrewing / tightening these arms. As you can see from our photos, the metalwork carries minor tarnishes, small dents and scratches, as does the weighted base, as you might expect with a vintage piece but overall these are minor and we don’t feel detract greatly from the appeal of the piece. Indeed, they are part of its history and charm. It comes from Denmark, imported directly.
