Classic Danish Black Leather Two Seater Sofa
A fine example of Danish design that combines sharp, good looks with maximum comfort. This stylish black leather sofa is not a vintage piece – we believe it dates within the last 30-40 years – but it’s a classic design with its roots in the midcentury movement, influenced very much by Borge Mogensen. It’s in superb shape and ready for a new home and the next 20 years of use. Low and lean, this sofa has a fantastic silhouette from all sides but it doesn’t compromise on comfort. Its clean-cut style means it will mix and match with other seating from different periods too. Sitting on four solid wooden legs, it’s an understated piece that won’t intrude – it’ll fit right into modern family life with leather offering a practical upholstery choice as its tough and easy to keep clean.
This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in excellent, used condition. We have cleaned the leather both on the six cushions and the fixed upholstery. The cushions are soft, supple and plump, all have working zips and are in outstanding order with very few signs of wear to the leather. Likewise, the fixed upholstery on the frame is in superb condition too. There are only very light signs of use. The sofa is sturdy and stable, very well-made and with no signs of repair or areas of concern. There is no maker’s mark but it’s imported directly from Denmark so has excellent origins. Given the lack of aging, we’re not sure this is a midcentury piece, although the classic design is undoubtedly inspired from this period. We would date it from the 1980s.
