Vintage Teak Mirror-backed Book Case / Cabinet by Herbert Gibbs

This is a fine, functional, vintage unit, by reputable British furniture maker, Herbert Gibbs. Featuring glass fronted, upper book shelves and a lower double cupboard, the design rather no-nonsense and simple but that’s no bad thing. It will slot in easily and quietly alongside other pieces of different styles and sizes, and its shallow depth won’t intrude into the room. We think this could be put to great use in a child or students’ bedroom, or indeed a hallway or landing. Masses of space for books and precious things, and a handy lower cupboard for pieces to be hidden away. Well-made and tidy.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in good – very good, used condition. We have checked and thoroughly cleaned it, applying a natural beeswax polish to its exterior wooden surfaces. The upper bookcase features a mirrored back and two adjustable glass shelves. The interior is clean and tidy. The two glass doors slide with ease in their runners and are in very good order. The lower cabinet is also clean and tidy inside and the two doors slide easily. There are minor signs of wear and tear to the exterior wood, primarily on the top surface where you can see faint scratches and scuffs – refer to our photos. There’s a little sunlight fading on the sides. It’s well made with no signs of repair or areas of concern. The Herbert Gibbs label is in place on the back of the piece.
