Vintage Midcentury Vinyl Record Cabinet on Castors

This midcentury wooden cabinet is a neat and tidy piece of furniture with many practical applications. Originally designed to house a prized vinyl collection, it sits low and lean on castors for easy movement (important for weighty records!). It’s a fine piece of clean, thoughtful design with its full width integral handle and darker wood patinas on the edges. Inside are two painted record dividers – these are removeable though, making this a cabinet that could be used for storage in pretty much any room in the home from hallway to office to bathroom to bedroom. Sturdy and solidly constructed, it would make a fantastic media console in a living room, and of course there’s room on top for your turntable and amp if you plan to keep it original!

Description

This is an original, vintage cabinet that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in excellent, used condition. We have cleaned the item and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood. The drop-down door moves with ease with the sliding hinge in excellent order along with the magnetic closures. The castors are in good order too and roll easily. The interior wood is clean, tidy and in good order, The two vinyl sections inside can be removed as they are not fixed in position. They are most likely original as they’re superbly constructed but they have been painted orange at some point in recent years. Fortunately this has also been done very well! There are some very minor scratches and scuffs on the exterior wood but nothing to call out and this is in line with its age and use.  It’s a well-made, practical piece of storage furniture that’s solidly made with no signs of repair. Sadly the maker’s label is no longer affixed, but it’s British made and in our experience we would date its production to the 1970s. Our photos aim to give an accurate sense of the condition.
