Vintage Danish Glass Front 1960s Teak Bookcase
A no-nonsense, vintage, teak bookcase from Denmark with plentiful display space for your books and treasures. The proportions are neat and tidy so it won’t take up much room, and the tapered legs give it space, plus you can vacuum underneath it with ease! For all that its design is rather utilitarian, there are some lovely design features to call out… the concave, frosted circles to slide the doors across, and the curves of the top edge. The central shelf can be height-adjusted. We think this could be put to great use in a child or students’ bedroom, or perhaps a hallway or landing.
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. Overall, it is in good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece, inside and out applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces. The glass doors are in good order and slide freely in their runners. There was a small chip to the plastic on one of the runners but this has been repaired. Please refer to our photo. There are also some veneer chips to the top left hand side. These have been filled and are not particularly noticeable – again, we have shown this in a photo. The inner shelf can be height adjusted and the interior is clean and tidy. Overall, there are light signs of wear and tear to the exterior wood, to be expected with a vintage item. It’s well made and comes to us from Denmark, although sadly we do not have a maker’s name.
