Vintage 1970s G Plan Fresco Chest of Drawers Dressing Table with Mirror
We see a lot of G Plan come and go (a testament to how well it was made and how its appeal endures!) but this particular piece is quite the catch. An adaptation of their Fresco chest of drawers, it comes with a smart mirror that can be angled into the perfect position and elevating this standard bedroom storage piece to a dressing table. Most MCM dressing tables are grand pieces, the size of which few modern bedrooms can accommodate. But this neat piece puts a different spin on the traditional dressing table and is a really practical piece, perfect for today’s home. Lots of storage space and a generous looking glass make this a vintage piece for now and beyond.
This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the piece inside and out, applying a natural wax polish to the exterior surfaces. The four drawers all slide with ease, have secure handles in good order, are constructed with dovetail joints and well very made. The interiors are clean and tidy. The external wood does have areas of sun fading, seen on the top surface and across the drawer fronts which look a little bleached out The good news though is that this is fairly uniform and gives a ‘blond’ wood look to what would normally be much darker. If you look at other G Plan Fresco drawers the teak and afromosia is much darker and the distinction between the two much more pronounced. As you would expect from G Plan, this is a beautifully crafted piece that’s solid and robust with no signs of repair. The mirror is in superb order too and can be tilted. It can also be removed entirely by unscrewing the brackets if you simply wanted to use this piece as a conventional chest of drawers. We know this piece dates from 1977 as this is stated on the E Gomme label o the back and the red G Plan sticker can be seen inside a drawers.
