Vintage 1960s Teak & Afromosia Bedside Cabinet by William Lawrence of Nottingham

Dating from the 1960s and made by William Lawrence of Nottingham, this neat, little cabinet in dark teak and afromosia is a find. Scouring the internet, we can’t find another so we think we’ve stumbled upon something of a rarity. It’s undergone a sensitive restoration as it was in quite the state on arrival. It features a top drawer and a drop-down cupboard, perfect for stowing away night time essentials. We could also see a piece like this being put to good use in a bathroom, perhaps next to the bath for lotions, potions and candles. We love the sled legs and the subtle colour variance between the woods.

Description

This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has undergone a light, careful restoration where the top and fronts have been stripped, oiled and waxed. This hasn’t removed all signs of wear and tear, and you will see from our photos some faint patches remain on the top surface. The rest of the piece has been cleaned and polished with a natural beeswax polish. The small top drawer slides with ease and has a clean interior. Likewise, the pull down lower cupboard is clean and tidy inside with hinges that move freely and closures in good order. It’s well-made, solid and sturdy, a cracking vintage piece. The William Lawrence stamp can be seen inside the drawer.
