Vintage 1960s Nathan Circles Large Teak Sideboard

Instantly recognisable, this Nathan sideboard is a Brit midcentury design classic. Beautifully constructed with the natural grain of the teak used to great effect, the three door circles are a standout feature. It’s a large sideboard but it’s slim depth means it can sit against a wall without intruding into the room. Made in the 1960s, this stylish design endures, bringing together vintage charm and modern appeal. It comes with huge amounts of storage too with cupboards and drawers for stowing things away in a busy family home.

Description

This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, vintage condition with some minor signs of wear and tear. We have cleaned and polished the piece with a natural wax polish. All three drawers move with ease, feature dovetail joints and are in clean, tidy order internally. The top drawer features fixed wooden dividers for cutlery. The central double doors move freely and the closures are in good order. The internal wood is clean, tidy and in good order and there is a fixed shelf. The end drinks cabinet features a pull down door which is formica-backed for mixing drinks. The hinges are in good, working order, moving with ease. You can see from our photos that there has been some superficial scratching to the side of this cupboard where the hinge has rubbed a little. The external wood on the door and drawer fronts, legs and side is in excellent order with only minor scuffs and marks, in line with its age and use. The top surface, although cleaned and polished does carry some more marks. There are patches of fading, some light water marks, etc, which can be seen on our photos.  These aren’t particularly noticeable and certainly doesn’t detract from the appeal of the piece. You could opt to sand and refinish the top if you wanted a fully restored finish. Overall the sideboard is very well made with no wobbles or joint concerns, and we can see no repairs. Sadly the Nathan sticker is no longer affixed but this is a well-known, instantly recognisable piece. Please browse our photos for a good sense of condition and wood colouration.
