Vintage 1950’s School Science Lab Bench & Four Wooden Stools
A fantastic salvaged set full of nostalgia and charm, this vintage science laboratory desk and accompanying four bench stools carry the marks of their busy former life on pretty much every surface! Look carefully and you will find compass scratches, names, even Pac-Man etched into the wood. Although we’ve restored each item, we’ve taken great care not to remove too much of its history as this is, of course, a large part of its appeal. We absolutely love this set and its renovation has been done with thought and love. The table top is mahogany so a deeper, more forgiving. It’s hard, resilient qualities that made it perfect for school-use will serve well in the home too. This would make a excellent, quirky island and / or breakfast bar in the modern kitchen. It was originally made to be used a great deal and it will stand up to whatever family life has to throw at it!
Description
This is an original, salvaged set that is ‘sold as seen’. It comprises of five separate pieces – 4 x wooden stools and 1 x school science bench. It is in overall good condition. Each piece has been cleaned, lightly sanded and oiled, however, we have left many of the marks, drawings and scratches in place as we believe its part of its history and narrative. Each of the wooden stools is sturdy and solid. The table is also sturdy and stable. These were well-built, utilitarian constructions meant to take a lot of heavy wear and tear. There are no maker’s marks on any of the pieces but it dates back to the 1950’s and was probably in use through to the 1980’s.
