Vintage 1960s Model 9073 Dining Table & Six Chair Set by AH McIntosh
What a find! A very handsome, complete dining room set from AH McIntosh of Kirkcaldy, made in the 1960s and mixing Scandinavian design influence with more traditional British style sensibilities. McIntosh furniture is synonymous with superior craftsmanship and finest quality wood, and you can see that here across the six teak chairs and extending, rectangular table. We love the elegant, gently arced sides of the table top and its slender profile; we love too the curve on the chairs’ back legs and the contoured arms of the two carver chairs, destined for the heads of the table. Overall the superior set is in fantastic vintage condition from the ruby red velvet upholstery to the newly restored table top. Acquired from the same source and having spent a lifetime with the same family, we’re rather hoping this suite will continue to stay together.

Description
This dining room set comprised of six vintage dining chairs and a matching dining table is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in good – very good, used condition. The set is comprised of an extending, rectangular dining table, two carvers and four regular dining chairs. Each chair frame has been thoroughly cleaned, waxed and polished to restore their glow. As you can see in our photos, the ruby red velvet upholstery is in remarkably good order with just light signs of use. All six chairs are solid and stable with no wobbles. There are minor dents and scuffs on the chairs’ frames but nothing to flag. The table has undergone a partial restoration. The table top has been stripped and refinished with oil and a final wax polish. There remains some very faint patchiness due to sun-fading but overall, it’s in super order. The legs and lower trim have been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied. The extension section sits hidden underneath the centre of the table when not in use. It’s in excellent order. To extend the table, the two sides are pulled apart and the extension slotted into place before the two sides are closed. All mechanisms are in very good working order. It is expertly crafted, solid and sturdy. There are minor scuffs and knocks here and there but these are as you might expect of a vintage piece.
