Vintage 1960s Lebus Light Oak Tall Chest of Drawers

Another piece of solidly made, smart British midcentury furniture, this time from Lebus. This well-made, tall chest of drawers combines practical storage with quiet good looks. There are some thoughtful design details here, like the darker wood bands across the middle, the slightly overhanging top and the tapered legs. We love too the unusual silver handles.  A super vintage piece in light oak that dates from the 1960s.

Description

This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, and a natural wax polish applied to the external wood. Karl has also restored some small veneer chips to make them blend in along the lower edge of one of the drawers – this is shown in our photos. All six drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and have clean, tidy interiors. All the original, silver handles are in excellent order and securely attached. There are some light marks and knocks here and there to the exterior wood surfaces. Overall though, this kind of wear and tear is in line with what we might expect to see on a vintage piece that’s 50 – 60 years old and it’s minor. It’s a really well made piece of every-day furniture, solid and and structurally sound. The Lebus maker’s mark can be seen inside the top drawer.
