Vintage 1960s Chest of Drawers by McIntosh

A nicely proportioned storage piece from highly reputable furniture maker, McIntosh of Kirkcaldy, this four drawer chest dates from the 1960s, originally designed for the bedroom. It’s expertly crafted in solid teak so this is a very well-made, heavy-duty piece. The design is neutral and minimal which means it can mix with pieces of different styles and eras easily. A great example of good quality, British midcentury furniture.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece inside and out, and polished the exterior surfaces with a natural, light beeswax polish. The four drawers are well constructed with dovetail joints, their original wooden handles and they slide with ease on their runners. They all have clean, tidy interiors. One of the drawer handles had broken but has been repaired as shown. There are light signs of wear and tear inside and out as you would expect with a vintage piece of this age and function. Minor knocks to the finish here and there. It’s made in solid wood so this is a heavy, substantial piece of a very good quality. Sadly there is no maker’s mark in place but its well-known 1960s model by McIntosh of Kirkcaldy so we attribute it with confidence.
