Vintage 1960s Avalon Teak Vanity Desk / Dressing Table

Made by Avalon, this mid century dressing table in teak with a darker stripe of afromosia on the handsome, integrated handles, this is a particularly lovely vanity desk and dates from the late sixties. It offers a plentiful storage with three drawers but a compact height and width. Its proportions are neat and tidy so it won’t take up huge space in your bedroom. The metal-framed mirror can be angled and check out the unusual shape of those long legs – a nice elegant detail. Well-made and thoughtfully designed from a renowned British furniture manufacturer.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece inside and out and applied a light natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such fantastic order throughout. The three drawers are well made, slide with ease and have clean, tidy interiors. The drawer fronts, legs and exterior surfaces carry just light signs of wear and tear. Very minor knocks and superficial scuffs here and there that are barely noticeable. There is a little sunlight fading on the top surface but again, nothing to specifically call out. The metal-framed mirror slots onto two uprights at the back. It’s angled simply by pulling the bottom forward. The hinges at the back are in good, working condition.  If you didn’t wish to have the mirror in place it can be easily removed. It’s a well-made piece as you would expect from Avalon, solid and stable. Sadly there is no maker’s mark in place but we know it to be an Avalon original so attribute it with confidence.
