Vintage 1950s Danish Seagreen Patterned Sofa with Ornate Frame

A grand statement sofa in a beautiful seagreen, textured fabric with masses of vintage charm. With super curves and contours, its design is rather feminine with the braid lines accentuating its flow and form. The original patterned upholstery is in super condition with only light signs of wear and tear. It comes with ornately carved, dark wooden arms and front legs which create drama and a stately presence. With neat proportions for a three seat sofa and striking-yet-elegant details, it would bring life to any space it’s put into. And really it could go into any room for an injection of instant character and glamour. It’s comfortable too with a firm, sprung seat and a tall, contoured back. It’s Danish in origin and hails from the fifties.

Description

This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The on-show solid wood frame has been cleaned and a natural beeswax polish applied, and the upholstery has had a thorough vacuum. The original upholstery including the braiding is in remarkably good order considering its age. There is some sunlight fading to the the colour and some very light marks on close scrutiny but take a look at our photos for an accurate sense of its great condition. There are no threadbare patches or tears to report. The carved wooden arms, trim and legs do carry light knocks and scuffs as shown but this is minor. There is one repair to flag to a carved piece on the left lower front trim – please refer to our photo of this. The two front legs have their original brass caps in place. It’s a well-made, heavy weight sofa that cannot be dismantled. It’s solid and sturdy with no wobbles or creaks. It’s imported from Denmark and dates from the 195os.
