Set of Three Vintage 1950s Mounted & Box Framed Taxidermy Butterfly Specimens

It’s time… reluctantly moving on this trio of beautiful mounted taxidermy butterflies. Originally from our personal collection then used as studio props to style our pieces, they’re now looking for a new home. Specimens from Exotica World Butterflies, Leicestershire, each comes labelled with the Latin name on the back and with a ring for wall-hanging. The butterflies are mounted on hessian backs and as you can see in our photos, they have aged a little. Two are missing an antennae. But their colours are still vibrant and hung as a set of three they create impact and a talking point. The depth of the frames means they can also stand freely on their bases on a shelf or mantelpiece perhaps.

This original, vintage set is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. The wooden box frames are a little knocked with age and use. The butterfly specimens inside are securely mounted in place on hessian backing although two are sadly missing an antennae.
