Set of Six Vintage 1960s AH McIntosh Model 9073 Teak Dining Chairs

A refined set of midcentury dining chairs from AH McIntosh of Kirkcaldy, made in the 1960s and mixing Scandinavian design influence with more traditional British style sensibilities.  McIntosh furniture is synonymous with superior craftsmanship and you can see that here in these elegant chairs. That curve on the back legs is just wonderful. The original upholstery is a little tired now but considering its years, it’s faired extremely well. With a neutral colour and striped pattern, they have life left in them to be used as they are. Or you might decide to recover these chairs in fresh, contemporary fabric, a straightforward job for an enthusiastic hobbyist as the pads simply drop into place. Overall a fantastic set of vintage dining chairs with an excellent pedigree.

Description

This set of authentic, vintage dining chairs is ‘sold as seen’. Overall it is in good – very good, used condition. Each chair frame has been thoroughly cleaned, lightly sanded and oiled. The seat pads have been steam-cleaned (hence the slightly stripy look in our photos – it’s just how the pile has dried but this will flatten / disappear with use) and dropped back into position. They are a little discoloured / faded still but they are overall in good order with no tears or threadbare patches as you might expect given their considerable years. The great thing about simply drop-in seat pads like this is that they can be easily and cost-effectively recovered by an amateur upholstery enthusiast. All six chairs are solid and stable with no wobbles. Two of the chairs carries the maker’s label and model number underneath the seat.
