Pair of Midcentury 1960s ‘Multi-width’ Beaver & Tapley Cabinets

Designed by Robert Heritage for furniture maker, Beaver & Tapley Ltd in the 1960s as part of its ‘Multi-width’ range, this is a classic British midcentury pair, influenced by the Scandinavian aesthetic of the day. Comprised of a neat, sliding door cabinet and a large, wide, glazed bookcase, they are good-looking, practical home items, giving plentiful, slimline display and storage space. For all that they appear simple at first glance, there are thoughtful, elegant design details here to spot… the tapered legs, the bevelled shelves, the contoured border that frames the front edges. A fine midcentury couple that look great styled side by side, angled at a corner or perhaps nodding to one another across the room.

Description

This pair of original, vintage cabinets is ‘sold as seen’. They are both in very good, used condition. We have checked and cleaned the pieces inside and out, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but otherwise the original finish has been left alone. The bookcase is sectioned into two halves and each side features an adjustable shelf. Both glass doors are in very good order and slide with ease in their runners. The bookcase interior and shelves are clean and tidy with just light wear and tear. Both wooden doors of the smaller cabinet are in very good order and slide with ease in their runners with securely attached handles. Inside there is an adjustable shelf. Overall signs of use are minimal and light – they have been taken care of. Please refer to our photos for an accurate sense of their superb order. They are well made with no signs of repair or areas of concern. The Beaver & Tapley maker’s label is in place on both items.
