Pair of Danish 1960s Vintage Green Velvet Armchairs
A cosy, welcoming pair of matching ladies and gentlemen’s lounge chairs, finished in an on-trend (as luck would have it!) green velvet. The original upholstery is in fantastic order with no threadbare areas and very little sunlight fading. The voluptuous curves of the chairs are followed by lines of two-tone green braid, and the proportions are generous and comforting with enough depth and width to curl up and tuck feet away. The feel is supportive and springy, and they are a well-made duo. We love more traditional seating like this mixed in with other vintage pieces from different periods. Dress them with graphicy, bold, colourful cushions or keep it period with blousy florals on textiles and throws. Either way, these easy chairs are versatile and happy to go with the interior design flow.
Description
This sale is for a pair of original, used chairs and they are ‘sold as seen’. They are in good – very good, vintage condition. We have given them a thorough vacuum, cleaned the wooden legs and they have had a thorough inspection. The original green velvet upholstery on both chairs is in really good order with just light signs of use to the pile of the velvet here and there – see our photos for a good sense of this. There are no threadbare patches or areas of wear to flag, and only minimal sunlight fading. The braided piping is also original and securely attached all round. The chairs are well-made, stable and sturdy with no creaks or signs of repair. There is no maker’s mark on either chair but they have been imported directly from Denmark.
