Original Vintage Ercol Model 469 Drinks Cabinet / Writing Bureau
This is such a handsome piece of Ercol furniture that continues to stand the test of time. Originally designed in the 1960s and superbly crafted in solid elm, this writing bureau / tall drinks cabinet is in great condition. It features a ‘fall’ pull-down door which reveals a sectioned upper cupboard and the door creates a platform for mixing your cocktails or writing… or both! Below is a spacious two-door cabinet with an adjustable shelf, and generous lower single drawer underneath. This multi-functional, versatile piece of furniture provides a lot of storage space and its clever, classic design means it’s not overtly a serving cabinet or writing bureau – it could be used in any room from kitchen to bedroom or study. This particular piece dates from the 1970s.
This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, vintage condition. We have cleaned the cabinet, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces but otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such great order. It features visible dovetail joints with the doors and fall fitted with full length hinges. The top cupboard interior is sectioned and is in clean, tidy order inside. The lower two-door cupboard also has a single adjustable shelf. There is a full width drawer at the bottom which slides with ease and it sits on the original shepherd castors to give good mobility. All interior wood is in very good, clean order, with just light signs of use. Likewise, the exterior wood is in very good order too, with only minor marks here and there in line with its age and purpose. The Ercol sticker is still affixed inside the cupboard door.
