Original Vintage 1960s Homeworthy Compact Sideboard / Dresser

A rare and rather beautiful, Danish-inspired, four drawer teak veneer dresser / sideboard, made in the 1960s by quality, British midcentury furniture makers, Homeworthy.  As with many of these double drawer units, we believe this most likely started life as part of a bedroom suite and would have had a mirror above, but as we often see, this has been removed to give it more universal appeal and versatility. It would now look just as at home in a dining room, living area or even entrance hall. The distinctive, little square handles here with their teak wood inserts are a signature feature of one of Homeworthy’s more popular ranges of the period. This piece is in excellent order having been fully restored and it’s ready for a new home.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition and it has been restored. The unit and drawer fronts have been carefully stripped and sanded to remove the original coating and some imperfections, then it’s been oiled and a durable, natural wax polish applied to give an authentic, hardwearing finish. The four drawers move freely, are well-made with dovetail joints, and there are no signs of any repairs. The interior wood is clean and tidy, and all the handles are securely attached. There are some very light marks and scuffs here and there but this is in line with its considerable age – do browse our photos for a good sense of its order. Overall it’s an outstanding piece, well constructed and  in superb condition. The original Homeworthy label can be seen inside the top drawer.
