Original Vintage 1950s Floor Lamp by Hanovia – Restored

Made in the 1950’s by Hanovia, here is a Sollux H8A freestanding electric heater, repurposed wonderfully to become an unusual, industrial statement floor lamp that can be wheeled into position on its elevated triform base. The lamp can be angled with the cantilever weight and the anodised domed lampshade itself has a high polish interior to diffuse and reflect the light, perfect for an Edison bulb. It’s a sculptural piece, as well as practical, and we love the rugged, industrial patina across the metal surfaces.

Description

This original, vintage floor lamp is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. It has been carefully checked and cleaned, and restored with new compliant fittings, floor switch and an energy efficient bulb. There is light tarnishing and there are scuffs and chips to the metal finish across the piece which can be seen across our various photos. There are also some superficial scratches on the polished shade interior, again as shown. This patina and wear is very much part of its industrial appeal in our view so we’ve taken care to preserve it. The Hanovia maker’s marks are both on the lamphead and the base and it dates from the 1950s. It was formerly a heat lamp, latterly converted to a floor lamp. It has been PAT tested. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of its condition but of course if you’ve questions, do get in touch.
