Original Midcentury Ladderax Single Bay Modular Shelf System
Truly versatile pieces of furniture, British maker, Ladderax, made modular storage systems, incorporating shelves, desks, bookcases, drawers, corner units, drinks cabinets and more. These different elements can be configured in whichever way suits. This is a particularly useful single bay, compromised of a sliding door cupboard and two shelves. The black finish metal rung uprights lean against the wall on a single foot on each side, and metal rails secure the unit and shelves into position underneath, a very clever piece of design engineering that’s strong and stable. Ladderax took inspiration from Danish modular furniture and this piece of classic, vintage furniture would work in any room in the modern home. It can also be combined with other Ladderax systems but this single bay works brilliantly in a recess next to the chimney.
Description
This is an original, vintage modular piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. It has been cleaned and the teak shelves and cabinet polished with natural beeswax polish. The full inventory for this modular shelving system is:

There are some marks and scuffs on the wooden shelves and cupboard but these are superficial and minor, in line with its age and the fact it’s an original, vintage piece. They would also most likely be unseen as such a system is meant for storage and display. The cupboard is in excellent, clean order inside and features an adjustable glass shelf, and has only minor signs of wear on the exterior wood. The doors slide with ease. The nature of this modular system means it can be configured in all manner of ways – we would recommend that there are two people on hand during assembly.
