Original Hove Mobler 1970s Danish Tall Deep Brown Leather ‘Skyline’ Armchair

A very stylish, vintage Danish ‘Skyline’ chair made by Hove Mobler in the 1970s. These bentwood chairs are very comfortable, indulgent seats, providing great contoured support, with its high back and head rest, its cantilevered frame and its deep, generous tilt. The dark black / brown leather is thick, soft, supple and in super condition with just very light signs of use. The leather complements the rich, dark tones of the wooden frame perfectly. Chairs of this style have a particularly striking, organic form with their open curves and lines – they aren’t ‘heavy-set’ like more conventional lounge and armchairs. Partner with other lounge seating or use as a stand-alone seat in a bedroom or office.

This original, vintage chair is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition. We have given the chair a thorough clean, applying a natural beeswax polish to the wooden frame and leather cleaner to the cushion. The three-part, sectioned cushion is in excellent order with securely affixed buttons, working zips and plump inner foams. The original leather is thick, soft and supple with just light, surface wrinkles from use, very much part of its appeal and character. The cushion fixes to the frame with poppers at the top back and front seat edge. The vinyl seat and straps underneath the cushion are also in very good order. The frame is in excellent order. It’s superbly constructed, solid and sturdy with no wobbles or creaks. There are some very minor surface scuffs here and there but nothing to call out. There is no maker’s mark on the frame but we know this to be a Hove Mobler design as part of its Skyline range, and dates from the the 1970s.
