Original Danish Stouby Black Leather Three Seat Sofa

Made by renowned Danish furniture brand, Stouby, this is a classic Scandinavian leather three seat sofa, with a handsome, clean-cut design matched with superb comfort. It’s a wonderfully lazy couch with generous proportions, perfect for stretching out on and it’s in outstanding condition with only very light signs of wear and tear. It’s not wildly old, probably around 20-25 years, which accounts for its fantastic order, but the design is very much midcentury-inspired, undoubtedly influenced by Borge Mogensen. It has a fantastic silhouette from all sides and has much to offer the busy, family home for the next 20 years or more – leather is particularly hard-wearing and easy to keep clean.  It will mix and match with furniture from different periods too so a great choice for a mixed, modern interior.

This original piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good – excellent, used condition. The leather upholstery has been given a good surface clean. The original black leather upholstery is in excellent order on the cushions. There are eight cushions in total with working zips and plump cushion inners, all in very good order. One of the seat cushion has a small fray where the backing cloth is stitched to the leather but it’s stable, doesn’t show and with this cushion facing into the back left corner, it’s unlikely to deteriorate. There are very minor signs of wear to the seat cushion tops, a little wrinkling and some light fading (please see our photos) but this is a feature of used leather and very much part of its character and appeal.  The fixed leather on the sofa frame is also in excellent order, as is the finishing fabric underneath the cushions. There are some minor surface scuffs and marks to the light beech legs. The sofa is superbly constructed, with no wobbles, creaks or signs of repair. The original Stouby maker’s tag is in place behind the back cushions.
