Original Danish Erik Jorgensen Model EJ260 Black Leather Three Seater Sofa
A classic, Danish, black leather couch, designed by Erik Jorgensen and staying true to the Scandinavian midcentury aesthetic of form and function in perfect harmony. At a glance the design is unfussy and simple but look closely and there are subtle bends and curves that add an elegance and softness to this clean-lined sofa. The proportions are perfect for family lounging with a generous seat depth and plump, supple cushions all around. It’s in near flawless, used condition – it’s been well taken care of in its previous life.
This original, vintage sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in excellent, used condition. We have washed the leather and applied a neutral, nourishing leather balm. All eight cushions are in excellent order with plump inners and working zips. The leather carries some creases and minor marks from use but this is in line with what we would expect from vintage, used leather. The fixed leather upholstery on the frame is in very good order too. Again, there are light marks and scuffs here and there, and we have shown some specific wear on the back corner but set against a wall this wouldn’t show and it’s not hugely noticeable anyway. The frame itself is solid and stable with no wobbles or joint concerns. The beech legs are a little marked here and there but nothing specific to call out. The finishing cloth on the underside of the sofa has been removed. This happens frequently with sofas and chairs imported from Denmark as it enables the frame to be checked. As it’s underneath, this doesn’t show. It’s a well-made, authentic Danish piece that we attribute with confidence to Erik Jorgensen, dating it to the late 1980s / early 1990s. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but it’s a well documented design.
