Original Danish Black Leather Sofa by Takashi Okamura & Erik Marquardsen for Skipper

Simple and elegant, this classic Scandi black leather sofa comes with excellent credentials, designed by Takashi Okamura & Erik Marquardsen for renowned Danish maker, Skipper Mobler. It dates from the 1970s and is a prestige piece from the finest quality leather to the clean-but-comfortable design. It features two large seat cushions and feather-filled, back and side cushions for soft, inviting comfort. We like the solid wood side bars and the groove in the front legs which help attribute it. Vintage leather comes with wrinkles and light fading, getting better and more characterful with age and use. And that’s very much part of its appeal especially in spaces where it will get a lot of use. It’s a fine, quality sofa made with superior construction and top quality leather.

Description

This original, preloved sofa is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. The leather upholstery has been surface cleaned with a specialist, nourishing cleaner and the sofa has been thoroughly vacuumed. The black leather upholstery is in very good order on the cushions – it’s thick, soft and supple. There are six in total with working zips and plump inners, all in great order. There are very minor signs of wear to the seat cushion tops, a little wrinkling (please see our photos) and fading here and there but this is a feature of used leather and very much part of its character and appeal.  The fixed leather on the sofa frame is in good order, hugging the contours of the frame well. There are some surface scuffs and marks mainly along the back and arm tops where it’s rubbed or been knocked – please refer to our photos. There is also some sunlight fading on the back and side panels. Please refer to our photos. The finishing cloth underneath the cushions is in very good order, clean and tidy. There are minor signs of wear to the wooden legs. The sofa is superbly constructed, with no wobbles, creaks or signs of repair. It’s imported directly from Denmark and the maker’s label is visible underneath. It most dates from the 1970s. Do browse our photos for a good sense of its colour and condition.
