Original Danish Black Leather Cantilever Lounge Chair

This chair is lounging simplicity at its best! An over-sized, contoured, floppy black leather cushion, sitting on a really simple, unfussy, light beech, cantilever frame. Beautifully engineered with sling seat that has the perfect tilt, it’s supportive and super lazy in equal measure. We don’t know much about the chair’s history other than its Scandinavian in origin. Experience tells us it most likely dates from the 1980s but obviously nodding to the classic midcentury bentwood chair designs of the seventies. A cracking indulgent sit to curl up in.

Description

This is an original, used chair that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good , vintage condition. The leather cushion has been cleaned and the leather nourished with a natural, neutral balm. The single, large black leather cushion rests in place on the frame, slotting over the top to stop it slipping off.  The cushion itself is in very good order with soft, supple leather, securely stitching, a working zip and plump inners. It’s designed to flop over the edges of the frame. There are wrinkles and shaping with previous use but this is in line with how leather wears and ages, very much part of its character. Please refer to our photos to get a true sense of this.  The canvas under the cushion is in very good order too. The light beech frame carries some light marks and scuffs here and there, including some scratches and paint marks on the arm ‘elbows’ – this is shown in our photos. This is probably because the chair has been pushed up against a wall. The chair is well-made, solid and sturdy with no repairs or concerns. Sadly there is no maker’s label but this is a very fine quality chair that comes from Denmark. We suspect it dates from the 1980s but its style and design is very seventies.
