Midcentury 1960s Danish Rosewood Bookcase / Shelf Unit by Brouers Møbelfabrik

Such a versatile piece, this handsome, rosewood open bookcase / display unit is freestanding and elegantly designed. Danish in origin, it dates from the 1960s and is attributed to Brouers Møbelfabrik. For all that the look is classic Scandinavian MCM, simple and clean, there are some considered details like the bevelled edge. Move around the shelves to suit your storage and display needs – they slide out on hidden metal rods. Styled thoughtfully, the width of this piece could create an impactful and impressive statement feature in a room, but the shallow depth of just 30cm means it won’t impose.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have cleaned the unit and applied a light natural beeswax polish but otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such good order. There are four height-adjustable shelves, two on each side. They sit on metal rods and slide out. All the shelves and interior surfaces are in good order with only very light marks from use, nothing to flag. Similarly the exterior wood on the sides and the tapered legs are in very good order too. There are some minor signs of wear here and there but nothing to call out. It’s very well-made, a solid and stable piece. Note: it’s a heavy, large item. The original Brouers Møbelfabrik maker’s stamp can be seen on the back of the piece.
