Large Vintage Scandinavian Glass Front Rosewood Bookcase with Side Cabinet

A fine quality, vintage shelf unit, dating from the 1960s and most likely Scandinavian in origin. This is a grand piece designed to impress, showcasing your precious books and treasures. It’s long and lean with expansive, double sliding glass doors and an adjustable shelf. There is further hidden storage with a side cupboard that features two more shelves and comes with a lock and key. This is a heavy-weight, substantial piece of furniture at over 1.5m long but if you have the wall width, its shallow depth means it won’t intrude into the room. The rosewood is of course the star here and it’s absolutely stunning, dark and richly grained. We love the bevelled edge of the top and the subtle, ebonised line that runs underneath. Sadly we’ve been unable to find anything the same but the construction and superior design tells us this is a prestige piece.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in good – very good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece inside and out, applying a natural beeswax polish but have otherwise left the original, high-shine finish alone as it’s in such fantastic order. The two glass doors slide with ease in their runners and are in immaculate condition. There is a height-adjustable shelf within the bookcase. The side cabinet comes with a working lock and key and features a further two adjustable shelves. All interiors are clean and side, in excellent order. There are some knocks and scuffs to the external surfaces as you might expect with a vintage piece. These are primarily on the edges and we have shown some of these minor imperfections in our photos. It is very solidly made and sturdy with no wobbles. It should be noted this is a large, heavy item that cannot be dismantled. Please refer to our photos for an accurate sense of condition.
