Large Vintage 1960s Dressing Table by McIntosh

Here is one very beautiful dressing table / vanity desk. Designed and manufactured by renowned furniture maker, McIntosh of Kirkcaldy and dating from the 1960s, it’s of the highest quality both in terms of design and construction, as you would expect from them. It’s pared back, minimal and elegant, an expertly balanced piece of design, so important on large-scale pieces like this. Every dimension, angle and feature is thoughtfully executed. We love the long, narrowing legs and the darker grain of wood used around the bottom edge. This particular model that’s scarcely seen comes with six drawers so masses of bedroom storage. And the full width mirror and generous top surface give you ample room to preen and pamper at your leisure.

Description

This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have cleaned the piece inside and out, and exterior surfaces have been restored. This involved carefully stripping back the original finish, oil and then a hard-wearing wax polish. The six drawers are constructed with dovetail joints, their original wooden handles and they slide with ease on their runners. They have clean, tidy interiors. One of the drawer handles had broken but has been repaired as shown. The full width mirror can be angled and the mechanisms for this are in good, working order. The mirror can be removed entirely by unscrewing the back uprights. Overall, there are minor signs of use and wear in line with its considerable age. Please browse our photos for a good sense of its super condition. If you would like to view the piece or have any questions, do get in touch.
