Elegant Vintage 1960s Set of Three Teak Nesting Side Tables

A very elegant, long-limbed set of side tables, dating from the late 1960s and made in teak. Their design is very neat and very clever, with the tables slotting into the one above so the two smaller tables actually hang, rather than rest on the floor. Why this feature? So they more easily slide out, rather than snag on the carpet. Clever! Their design is unmistakably midcentury – clean and refined. These retro table nests are enjoying a renaissance as they are a practical, space-saving addition to a lounge or family room, where extra surface space is frequently called for.

Description

This is an original, vintage table set that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good – very good, used condition. We have thoroughly cleaned the set, applying a natural beeswax polish to the two smaller tables. Otherwise, the original finish is in tact on these. The larger table top was heavily stained and therefore we have completed a partial restoration of the top surface only to knock this back at much as possible without making it look mismatched to the other two. This involved removing the original finish, adding oil and then a hardwearing wax polish to give a durable, hard-wearing finish. The top table still shows the light signs of wear and tear, and as is often the way, is a touch lighter as it’s the most exposed to sunlight – see our photos for a good sense of this. Overall, they are a really well made set, with the smaller two tables slotting inside the large one so they sit just above the floor. We don’t know the maker sadly but they are undoubtedly midcentury, dating from the late 1960s / early 1970s. If you’ve any questions or would like to view this set, do get in touch.
