Danish Midcentury Twin Spotlight Floor Lamp by Schmidt’s – Fully Restored

An exceptionally handsome floor lamp that hails from Denmark, dates from the 1960s and was made by Schmidt’s Lampedesign. The two muted black spotlights are directional and can be height-adjusted on the main steel stem. Classic MCM lamps like this add a sculptural accent to a room with their height (the stem of this one is over 1.5m) and poseable silhouette. The curves and contours of these particular spotlights are very striking as is the dramatic contrast between the shiny silver and the matt black.

Description

This original, vintage floor lamp is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition and has been fully restored with care and expertise. The lamp has been rewired with new black, fabric-braided flex, energy efficient bulbs, and plug, and it has PAT tested to meet modern regulations. The spotlights can be angled with the screw arm joints, and they can be height-adjusted on the main stem by unscrewing / tightening these arms. As you can see from our photos, the spotlights and metalwork carry some tarnishes, small dents and scratches, as does the weighted base, as you might expect with a vintage piece of this considerable age and purpose, but these are minor and we don’t feel they detract from the appeal of the piece. It’s imported from Denmark and dates from the 1960s. Schmidt’s Lampedesign is cast into the bottom of the case.
