Authentic Vintage Ercol Model 203 Armchair
Immediately recognisable as Ercol, this vintage model 203 lounge chair in light blond, solid beech wood is the perfect easy chair. Its open wooden frame looks handsome from all sides and make it less bulky and cumbersome than more traditional lounge chairs. We love its wide, welcoming stance and its upturned arms. It’s in overall fantastic order, well made and sturdy with fitted cushions that have been recently reupholstered and taut, new Pirelli webbing. And those cushions are a smart, green tweed wool, specifically designed and contoured for this chair model. The colour is neutral enough to mix well with other palettes. These chairs work in any room in the modern home, from bedroom to conservatory to family space to lounge.
Description
This is an original, used chair that is ‘sold as seen’. This armchair has been well looked after and is in very good, vintage condition. We have cleaned and polished the wooden frame. There are very minor signs of wear and tear to the original finish – just small dents and knocks here and there – but this is in line with its age and is light. The two shaped cushions have been reupholstered in recent years (not by us) and are in very good order too with working zips and plump inners. The fabric is a mixed weave tweed wool of pale greens and browns. It’s worth noting that if the fabric isn’t to your taste, these bespoke cushions could be recovered, a significant time and cost saving. If you research ‘Ercol cushions’ you will see these alone command a high price. The Pirelli webbing has been recently replaced and is taut and sag-free. The blue Ercol sticker is affixed to the back of the chair and we date it to the 1970s.
