Antique Mid Victorian Large Mahogany Chest of Drawers

A grand, square front, antique, mid-Victorian (1850-1870) chest of drawers in beautiful, richly toned mahogany. With four generous, graduated drawers, there’s ample space for home storage. The turned knob handles are original and it sits on elegant, squat turned legs. This is a very old piece that comes scarred and bruised on its surfaces – do browse through our photos for a good sense of this – but we love the imperfections of the antique timber and the history it holds. For all the marks and knocks, it’s very well-made and has already proved its longevity.

Description

This antique, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in fair – good, rustic condition. It has been cleaned inside and out, and a natural beeswax polish applied to the external wood but otherwise the original finish has been left alone. All four drawers slide with ease, feature dovetail joints and have the original wooden turned handles securely in place. As you can see from our photos, the wood is marked, chipped and scarred. We feels this only adds to the appeal of such an aged piece but we know this isn’t for everyone. Sadly, we do not have a key for the brass locks. The knocks and bruises are superficial and just skin-deep. It’s well made, solid and stable. There is no maker’s mark but its origins are British.
