What a treat to find a classic, low Siesta chair with its accompanying footstool. The two rarely come together nowadays. In case you don’t know, the Siesta chair was a multi award-winning chair design when it launched on 1963. Designed by Ingmar Relling, made by Westnofa, a Norwegian manufacturer, its status and appeal went global. Even Jimmy Carter acquired a set for the White House during his term. It’s a very cleverly engineered, seven-piece, stained bentwood frame threaded through with cord which keeps the sling canvas taut and in place. Then a black leather sectioned cushion sits on top, strapped at the top. The tilt and the slight bounce when you sit back make it about as easy-going as you can get. And of course, there’s a separate stool to rest tired feet. What we love about these chairs is their minimalist design. They’re lightweight and compact but comfort isn’t compromised.
