Our oldest ever piece at OHW and goodness, what a piece! This dates from the Regency period (so around the early 1800s) and as such, it’s seen a tremendous amount of life and use across the decades and centuries. Constructed in mahogany, it’s substantial and grand with its original brass plate handles in place. Below are four graduated drawers and at the top, two arms pull out on either side and the fall door rests on these arms to create the generous desktop. Inside are further miniature drawers and pigeon holes for storage. Yes, it comes with knocks, bruises, blemishes and a smattering of historical woodworm holes… but none of this detracts from the appeal of this extraordinarily old, splendid antique piece. It has masses with bags of character and charm, and its scars are part of its rich history and story.
