Full Condition Report
This vintage chest of drawers is ‘sold as seen’. It has been thoroughly cleaned and serviced, and the top, sides, drawer fronts and handles have been refinished. This involved stripping and sanding away the original finish, followed by coats of Osmo Top Oil, then a wax polish and buff. The three drawers slide easily, have securely attached handles and clean interiors. The top drawer is sectioned. We have made some minor repairs to this piece to ensure its ongoing longevity which included regluing a small split in one of the drawer sides and replacing two of the drawer runners inside. Neither of these repairs are on show. Although the dresser has restored wonderfully well, there are some light knocks, blemishes and scuffs here and there so do browse our photos. The glued right angle join between the left hand side and the top has opened a little with age and use so there is a small gap here but there is no movement at all so trying to open it to reglue and clamp would likely have made it worse so we have left this as it’s not noticeable. There are no areas of concern, other than the superficial wear and tear shown. It’s a well-made item and the E Gomme gold stamp is in the top drawer.
