Unusual Scandinavian 1970s Leather Lounge Chair

With a particularly unusual chair design, this 1970’s Scandinavian piece has just as much going on at the back as it does the front. At a first glance, it’s the two over-sized, rectangular buttons on the seat and back cushion that catch your eye. Saddle-style arm rests on the squared off frame, a head rest cushion and a generous, deep seat give lots of support and comfort in all the right places. But go round the back of the chair and you’ll see its most striking feature. The canvas sling underneath the leather cushions is held tightly in place with two leather belts which join a large dowel to the frame. A highly original design and a fresh take on the hammock chair.

Full Condition Report
This vintage lounge chair is ‘sold as seen’. The chair has been thoroughly checked and cleaned. The cushions are in good order with plump inners, working zips and secure stitching and fittings. There are light wrinkles and signs of wear on the seat cushions and fixed armrests, as shown, but this is minor and very much part of the appeal of vintage leather in our view. The leather has been deep cleaned and a nourishing leather balm applied to restore suppleness and shine. The canvas underneath the cushions is in good order too, with some fading here and there, but this isn’t on show. We have had some of the stitching on the canvas professionally repaired as it was rather clumsily done by hand – please refer to our photos.  The frame is well-made, solid and stable with no areas of concern. There are the odd knocks and scuffs here and there but nothing to call out. Do browse our photos for an accurate representation of its condition and colour. Any queries, just get in touch.
