Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have thoroughly serviced and cleaned the sideboard inside and out, and applied a natural beeswax polish to the external surfaces but otherwise left the original finish alone as it’s in such good order. As such it does come with minor blemishes and scuffs and this is reflected in our price. There is a double door cupboard with a full cupboard-width shelf inside. All hinges, closures and handles are secure and in good, working order. The cupboard interior carries just light signs of use and is clean and tidy. The bank of three drawers all slide with ease, have secure handles and clean interiors too. The top drawer is felt-lined and has removable dividers, originally intended for cutlery. There are just light signs of wear and tear. And finally the drinks cabinet on the right has a fall door and a further recessed shelf inside. Again, the interior is clean and tidy. Sadly the original arms for the fall door were mismatched and badly attached where someone had previously attempted a repair. We’ve replaced them with new metal arms but this means there are some discreet gaps and filled areas both in the cabinet and also on the edges of the fall door. None of this is visible when the door is closed and we have shown this repair in our photos – it doesn’t compromise the look or use. There are minor blemishes, faded patches and scuffs on the external wood surfaces but nothing to call out specifically. It’s light wear we would expect to see on a piece of this age and nature. Do click through our photos. This is a very well-made piece in teak, teak veneer and afromosia. It is solid and stable with no areas of concern. You could opt to have the item fully restored if you so wished but we don’t believe it’s required at this time. The G Plan label is no longer affixed but this is a very well-known piece by them. Note: this is a heavy, substantial piece that cannot be dismantled, therefore we would highly recommend you consider access before buying to ensure it can easily go into your property.
