Antique Edwardian Dresser with Lower Cupboard

This antique Edwardian dresser / cabinet that dates from the early 20th century may come a little scarred but it’s still so very handsome. Discreetly detailed with a delicate, thin marquetry border across the drawer fronts and top and with the original brass handles in place, this traditional piece has much to offer. With drawers and a generous lower cupboard, there is much useful storage here. It sits on chunky bracket feet and has a raised decorative trim at the back edge which simply slots into position. The design and dimensions are such that this piece could go into pretty much any room. A wonderfully characterful, vintage piece.

Description

This original, used dresser / cabinet is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, antique condition, structurally sound but with some cosmetic wear and tear. We’ve checked and cleaned the piece inside and out, and applied a wax polish to the exterior wood to restore shine, but otherwise the finish is original. The three drawers slide with ease, made in solid wood with dovetail joints, and all the brass handles are securely affixed and original. The lower section features two doors which open to one cupboard. The brass pull handles here are original and securely attached. There are closures on the handles but as you can see in our photos, they have knocked against the wooden central post over the years. It’s not hugely noticeable in the overall context of the piece though. The interiors of the drawers and lower cupboard are lightly marked with age and use but clean and tidy. The exterior wood is marked, chipped and bruised, as you can clearly see from our photos. This wear is very much in line with its age. Still, it’s a well-made piece of classic British antique furniture in solid wood.
