Description
This is an original, vintage piece that is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, used condition. We have serviced, cleaned and polished this piece, applying a natural beeswax polish to the exterior wood surfaces but otherwise the finish is original. There are eight drawers in total of various sizes, including a double height drawer. The drawers are very well-made in solid wood with dovetail joints, slide readily and have pretty clean interiors – there are light signs of use inside, as you might expect. Sadly we do not have a key for the locks. The desktop features inlaid dark green leather which is securely attached. This is slightly blemished, superficially scratched and a little paint splattered – please do refer to our photos. All handles are in good order and securely attached. The exterior surfaces do carry knocks, marks and signs of aging as you would expect with a piece of this significant age. Do refer to our photos for a accurate sense of its great vintage order. It’s very well-crafted, solid and stable. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but we believe it to be British in origin and it dates from the 1930s / 1940s. Rather cleverly, the desk can be dismantled into three parts – the two pedestals and the desk top, making it easier to move. the desktop simply slots onto pegs on the pedestals to moor it into place. Alternatively, we can arrange fast, UK mainland delivery with trusted delivery partners who cover most of the country (enquire for Scotland or remote addresses) and are reliable and insured. We have a weekly collection and onward delivery usually follows 1-5 days later. The delivery service we can offer does require a little flexibility as the drivers work to predetermined routes with other delivery obligations, but you would be kept updated.
