Description
This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in good, vintage condition. It has been checked, cleaned and polished with a natural beeswax but otherwise the finish is original and as such it comes with minor marks and knocks which can be seen across our photos. The shelves are graduated (hence ‘waterfall’) both in height and depth, with smallest at the top, largest at the bottom and they are fixed in position. The plywood back has been added to the unit at a later stage – originally the shelves were open / backless. The inside has been stained to match the oak finish and certainly once books are on the shelves, the back panels don’t show and they certainly don’t jar in our view. It is solid and stable with no repairs or areas of concern. Do browse through our photos for an accurate sense of its condition – there are signs of use and ageing. There is no maker’s mark and it’s tricky to date a piece such as this. It’s really wonderfully made with beautiful joints but it could well be a one-off scratch made piece by a skilled craftsperson. It’s solid and stable and British in origin. There are a handful of old woodworm holes – just a few – but these are historical and dormant.
